Heter egentligen, Sara Larsson och föddes 1983 i Vänersborg, men flyttade 1985 till Tanzania tillsammans med sin familj, där hon sedan tillbringade stora delar av sin uppväxt. Som artonåring flyttade hon till Zimbabwe i två år där hon spelade i band med zimbabwiska musiker och uppträdde på olika klubbar och restauranger runt om i Harare. 2009 flyttade hon tillbaka till Tanzania för att fokusera på musiken. Hon arbetar sedan hösten 2013 som lärare i bild och form, estetisk kommunikation och medieproduktion i Vänersborg.
SaRaha slog igenom i Tanzania 2011 med låten ”Tanesco”. Senare samma år blev låten ”My Dear”, där hon samarbetade med den tanzaniska artisten Akil, nominerad i Kilimanjaro Music Awards där hon även gjorde sitt första stora liveframträdande på nationell tanzanisk TV. 2014 släpptes Sarahas första album Mbele Kiza, där hon samarbetar med bland andra Marlaw och Dully Styckes. Under 2014 blev hennes musik uppmärksammad även i Sverige och låten ”Mbele Kiza” kom in som utmanare i Svensktoppen.
Saraha medverkade i Melodifestivalen 2016 med låten ”Kizunguzungu”, skriven av henne själv, Anderz Wrethov och Arash Labaf. Saraha gick tillsammans med Boris René vidare till Andra chansen i Halmstad från den tredje deltävlingen i Norrköping. I Andra chansen duellerade Saraha mot Isa och tog sig vidare till finalen. I finalen slutade Saraha på nionde plats.
Under 2016 har ni kunnat se SaRaha på bl.a Allsång på Skansen, Sommarkrysset, Nyhetsmorgon, Så ska det låta, Sommarlov.
På våren 2016 släpptes singeln ”Kengele”.

About SaRaha

Sara Larsson, known as SaRaha, was born in Sweden in 1983. At the age of two she moved to Tanzania with her parents where she spent long periods of her childhood. She returned to Tanzania as an adult in 2009 and quickly became a part of the East African Pop music scene.

SaRaha has been composing, singing, and performing her music since her late teens in Sweden, Tanzania and Zimbabwe working with different types of pop music and performing with different band constellations. In 2009 she revisited Tanzania and became interested in East African pop music, which has been her musical focus since then. In 2011 she started working under her stage name SaRaha.

The video for a short acoustic version of SaRaha’s first Swahili song, Tanesco, was played daily on TBC1 during 2011. She became cemented as a Tanzanian artist after featuring with the artist Akil in the song My Dear which was released in July 2011. The video following the song was nominated in the category ‘best video’ in Kilimanjaro Music Awards 2012. Since then SaRaha has been releasing singles that have received a lot of attention in the Tanzanian media. She has also worked together with other Tanzanian Hip Hop and Afro pop artists, such as Fid Q, Makamua, Joh Makini, Linex and Chidi Beenz.

During the last few years SaRaha has appeared in major live performances such as Miss Tanzania, ZIFF (Zanzibar International Film Festival), and Kilimanjaro Music Awards. She has also appeared in Tanzanian TV shows such as Bongo Beats – StarTV, Ben na Mei – TBC and The Chidi Beenz Show.
In 2013 SaRaha entered the global music competition GLOBAL ROCKSTAR with her song Jambazi. Competing with artists from 72 countries from all over the world, SaRaha achieved second place.

During 2014 SaRaha’s music started getting airtime on major radio stations in Sweden, and her song Mbele Kiza entered the main Swedish pop charts “Svensktoppen”. In April she released her album Mbele Kiza followed by the two singles Dadido and Shemeji.
